Metabo SXE450 00458 3.8 Amp 6-Inch Random Orbit Sander

Another Metabo exclusive, this sander offers dual orbit settings (1/8-inch orbit for fine finishing and 1/4-inch orbit for fast stock removal). Orbit selection is adjusted through a mechanical transmission. The variable speed and low vibration make this sander versatile and extremely comfortable to operate. Work surface "swirls" are virtually eliminated by the power control system. Integral dust collection and auto stop carbon brushes round out the features on this unit. One full year parts and labor warranty and 30 day risk free performance protection. Front handle, paper dust bag, Velcro backing pad, backing pad change hex key, and an assortment of sanding discs are included.
Customer Review: great machine
This is a machine that runs very smooth and quiet and does an exceptional job at removing wood. I have it connected to a vacuum system and it is truly dust free. It has been replaced by a newer model that isn't nearly as good. This machine is substantial and should last many years.
Customer Review: What can I say? It is a Metabo...
I just bought this tool after carefully studying the best 6" random orbit sanders out there. There were two winners, the Bosch 1250DEVs and the SXE450. The main difference between these two were the price ($100 more for the Bosch) and also my experience with both brands. Bosch is ok, but Metabo are top of the line tools made to last longer than anything else on the market. I have already used it is several projects and just can't wait to use it in turbo mode to remove stock with 60 grit (it does it at a very decent rate to be a random orbit sander) and to finish wood all the way to 240 grit - I tell you, use this tool and you will fall in love with it for a loooooong time.

Makita BO6030 2.7 Amp 6-Inch Random Orbit Variable Speed Sander with Cloth Dust Bag

Amps: 2.7, Disc Diameter (in.): 6, OPM: 4,000 - 10,000, Tool Length (in.): 12 1/8, Dust Bag Included: Yes
Customer Review: Nice tool
This is a well-priced, dependable sander. It's not dust-free, but the dust bag reduces the dust substantially and is very easy to get on and off to empty. There's nothing fancy about this tool, but it does a good job and hasn't let me down. My only complaint is that can be difficult to find the sanding discs.
Customer Review: not bad at all
I have the Bosch 3727 6" sander and this Makita is as good as that is..it also offers an extra hole for dust collection that is placed in the center of the disc to pick up anything that collects there..I love the Bosch because of the extremely low vibration along with a nice swirl free finish and this Makita delivers the same plus it comes with two sets of six dust collection holes for a total of twelve in the pad with the option of using sanding discs with the dust collection holes either on the extreme outside rim or a little more towards the center which is what the Bosch has. I think the holes which are located way out on the rim are for makita sanding discs and the disc that comes with the sander has those holes and works better than my standard discs which I see on all the other sanders out there..short of buying the Festool this and the Bosch are both next in line and cost less too..
